Power Technology Named Exporter of the Year
LITTLE ROCK, AR, April 2, 2016 –Power Technology Inc., laser experts in the photonics industry for over 45 years, will be honored at The Arkansas State Chamber’s 26th Annual Awards Luncheon on May 3, 2016. The United States Small Business Administration (SBA) annually recognizes exceptional businesses nationwide with fewer than 500 employees in several categories. With exports to 37 countries and every continent except Antarctica, Power Technology was chosen from a field of strong contenders as the Arkansas Exporter of the Year. As the Arkansas Exporter of the Year, Power Technology also competed, and won, at the regional level against other businesses in NM, TX, OK, and LA to be named the Region IV (SBA South Central) Exporter of the Year.
Accepting the award on behalf of Power Technology is William Burgess, VP of Operations. “In the very competitive current global economic environment, a commitment to exports and international business is both challenging and rewarding,” said Burgess. “Bringing that revenue back to the US and using it to create jobs is an important commitment we have to our local community. Receiving this recognition is an amazing honor and is a testament to the hard work of the PTI team,” finished Burgess.
PTI currently utilizes over a dozen international distributors to promote products to foreign markets. With exclusive distribution agreements in the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Finland, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Israel, Japan, South Africa, Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan, Power Technology has a solid, and growing, global presence.
The laser and photonics industry relies heavily on international technical standards. Most recently, PTI recertified their line of HeNe Laser Power Supplies as CE compliant. This certification and CE marking is required for products exported to Europe. Meeting similar requirements, but with a different certification process, these same power supplies are exported to both Canada and Mexico.
“Each year we invest heavily to maintain these certifications,” added Burgess. “Strong sales coupled with the honor of being named both the Arkansas and SBA South Central Exporter of the Year recognizes the value of that investment and the impact exports can have here at home.”
