Power Technology launches USB powered laser module.

Power Technology Inc., laser experts in the photonics industry for 45 years, is launching a unique new series of lasers at the 2016 Photonics West show in San Francisco today. Dubbed “The Modern OEM Laser,” the USB-L is a laser module that is both powered and controlled via standard USB computer ports. Perfect for bio-analytics, research, industrial, and semiconductor applications, the convenience and control provided by the USB interface make the USB-L an attractive, affordable choice for a variety of situations. 

 The USB-L comes in both square and round packages ranging from 405 nm to 780 nm and output powers from 1 mW to 50 mW. Connecting via USB Micro Type B, the red and IR versions connect to USB 1 or USB 2 ports while green, blue and violet models are accessible via USB 2 ports. All models offer consistent power and a custom graphical user interface for precise control of output power level and on/off state.
